I got everything in, everythings nice but when i try to install windows is always says that the hdd needs to be configured or check for virus's and shit like that. I have change out the ide cables like 5 differnt times with 5 differnt cables never used (except 1) please help. Thanks.

Is the drive formatted?

Maybe it's just me, but the post isn't very clear at all.

ok, i know your new, but its very, very difficult to diagnose your problem, and provide a solution when all you tell us is that your hdd needs a "virus scan and shit like that" when you dont 1. give us system specs, and 2. an actuall error message.

yes, it probly just needs a format, but windows setup should do this for you anyway.

basically the error msg says; A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prvent damage to your computer.

Check for viruses on your computer. remove any newly installed hard drives or hard drive controllers. check your hard drive to make sure it is properly configured and terminated. run chkdsk/ f tp check for hard drive corruption, and then restart computer

Ah, that gives me something to work with.

Most likely cause is memory errors. If this is happening when installing, there was probably a memory error and Windows install halted and shut down the system rather than letting you install with corrupted files.

Test with memtest86 and see if the test generates any errors.

ok, i have a strange problem. My new harddrive works fine on my old computer, but doesnt work in my new computer. The harddrive in my old computer works in my new computer. What could be causing this? This is starting to PISS ME OFF. Any help would be appreciated :)

Probably jumper settings on the hard drive.

It works because it's already formatted and windows has been installed (at least I'd think so).

Like I said, please run memtest86 to see if you get memory errors. Memory errors will STOP WINDOWS FROM INSTALLING, but NOT NECESSARILY FROM BOOTING. However, memory errors will crash a system eventually, how long depends on when a bad memory address is accessed.

Remember, memtest86.
memtest86
memtest86
memtest86
memtest86
memtest86

Hope that got to you.

Report back here with results. If there's no errors, I'll try to provide more answers.

edit: or...it could be jumper settings like Burningrave says.

Everyhting was going perfect till Pass got to 98% and test got to 72% with no errors then it just froze and stopped...does that mean bad ram?

ok it stops now EVERYTIME on test #5 in bracets it says (block move, 64 moves, cached). does that mean i need to send back the ram?

Also it does it on my old computer ram too. the old computer works perfect no problems with it. So what are the chances of me having bad ram and the test stoping in the exact same spot for both rams?
