I'm not sure if this is the right thread or not. If not then please move to the correct one.

I picked up a couple of yards to mow for some extra cash this summer. I have a typical Garden Tractor/Riding mower I use. My problem is the volume of my music I need to increase. My MP3 player is this

& my head phones I use are these.

What do you suggest to increase my volume level. On the mower with just the engine running it's OK volume wise. It's when I start the mower part of it plus the engine sound it drones it out. What is the easiest way to increase the volume level for my music.

I suggest you get a headphone amp. You can get a $20 FiiO E5 or build your own CMOY amp.

Modifying the MP3 will distort it.

Rather than dicking around with the mp3s, I suggest you switch to IEMs to block out the sound instead :)

If your mower's loud to the point where you can't hear music with those headphones and that player at maximum volume, then you need real hearing protection when you're using the mower. You're just accelerating hearing loss with this music+mower arrangement.

get some iems like mentioned already then get urself some real ear protection to wear over them. thats what i do and i can listen to my mp3 player at normal volume and can hear perfectly fine

I want to thank everybody that replied to this thread. Just to let you all know, this is what I ended up doing.

I purchased a set of these

& I already had a set of over the ear muffs from back when I worked in a noisy factory. I had forgotten all about them & will use them along with the ear buds. I guess I didn't think about just how noisy that mower really is.

Good deal. Lawnmower + earbuds and/or increased volume = potential for hearing damage. IEMs are the way to go. Keep the volume at a reasonable level. If you seal off outside noise and still have to listen at a high volume, you should probably do without.
