If you go to Pricewatch, DVD, Plextor brand

on 712A, Axion tech, they give a price of $167, but there is also a make offer button which brings up a dialog form for a customer bid.

WTF?????

You gotta give email and phone - so they want to bargain back and forth????

AxionTech will never EVER EVER get a dime of my money.....EVER.

They refused a refund, and I ended filing a claim with my Credit Card company. Now they have a nice red chargeback on their record.

Did I mention I hate AxionTech?

i dont know if this would make a difference, their 'rating' might be high, but they dont have too many reviews. besides, i would trust the experience of my peers here on [H] before i trust a review. anyway, like you even implied in your first post, what kind of legitimate business is going to bargain over computer parts.

i bought a celeron 1.1 (coppermine) off of axiontech. they were the only ones who carried the thing. i didnt have a problem with them.

AxionTech is a good site, I've bought off of them before.

This is what I think is happening:

There's a "Buy Now" button if you want to purchase directly without negotiating or anything (which is what I always do).

But if you're strapped for cash, that negotiate button may be for buying from another person who's using AxionTech as a "middle man." That or you're actually negotiating with AxionTech. Either way, I'd just buy it at the listed price next time.

well, I called them up. (Axion tech)
the guy (Allen ext 110) didn't know squat.
the item is $158 plus shipping, so he offered free shipping with my call.
its new items - not refurb/not second party

apparently its a Pricewatch thing to get a discount and bring more customers to their site

Allen told me to put in $125 and see what happens

Then I called Ruby Sky (Seagate) in TX and asked the same and he said it was mainly for quantity buyers who wanted a break, but he said they would match specials like best buy.

When I called, I needed to know Iranian to understand him.

Sorry sir, I speak English, because I live in the USA, so I suggest you do the same thing. Then I promptly hung up on him.

Keep in mind, that was their customer support line...where you'd think they'd have the nicest people who ACTUALLY SPEAK ENGLISH!!!!!!!
