Ok guys, I am here to ask a few questions, requireing some thought, so I hope you all can help me out profoundly.

I currently have the following setup:

Epox 8rda3+
Barton 2500+
SLK-900
3x Corsair XMS pc2700 c2 512mb (1.5Gb total)
Radeon 9700pro aiw
Wd 36GB raptor 10k rpm - c:
WD 160gb IDE 7200rpm - all my other drives
Sound blaster Audigy - refurbished from Fry's, still works great
Logitech Z-560 400wt 4.1 speakers, just purchased on overstock.com for $79 and will get these in the mail soon

I am wondering and thinking about the future of my gaming, I currently own a clan, I own many servers, and want to be up to speed when hl2 comes out, because my clan plays CS, DOD, CZ so basically halflife mods.

Now here are my questions:
1. Will my current setup be sufficent for the HL2 phase
2. If #1 is a no, will a prescott 2.8 p4 800 mhz fsb be a handy and great-n-boost upgrade from my 1.8ghz Barton 2500+ 333mhz fsb
3. Or should I just wait til intel 64bits come out and buy the amd because they will be cheaper then
4. Is my SB Audigy a good enough card for the speakers I am about to recieve in the mail, or is an upgrade to a Audigy2 Zs really in store, and if so, what makes the card that much better?

I hope you guys can certainly help me out in any way possible, on any of these topics, thanks in advance!!!

Just get a x800 pro and will be able to play hl2 in all its glory. Your cpu is gonna be a bottle neck and if it bothers you that much you ould upgrade to the best barton you can get or even go 64 bit. Your current rig will run hl2 at 1024/768 and maybe some eye candy turned on.

current rig is fine. A faster videocard will be required to run it in all its glory, but if your compeditive, why would you want the eyecany on slowing things down?

CPU is fine, but the bus speed may be a hinderence. You would definetly see some gain by switching to an 800mhz P4 setup, but the cost isnt really worth it in my eyes.

if your not an audiophile, the Audigy is plenty. Even integrated sound will still let you hear things. ;)

Ask again when HL2 comes out. NO ONE knows how your machine will perform on code that isn't available. Upgrade when what you do have isn't cutting the mustard, upgrading now will be waste of cash is HL2 doesn't come out until Christmas huh?
