I built the machine below. I've had a lot of trouble getting it stable and overclocking. Just ran prime95 on default stock bio settings and it still fails. Please help. I'm going to return the mobo to amazon as the return period ends in a couple days. I've built several rigs now and never had a problem like this.

Ram passes memtesting without any problems. I'm focusing on the mobo at the moment. I've already sent in the rebate for the power supplya which limits my options. I was able to play metro last light with only a few crashes so not sure if that means the power supply is ok or not

Any help/advice is greatly appreciated!

4670k
Asus maximus vi hero mobo (will drop off at ups tomorrow - no choice as return privilege is expiring can't take risk)
Corsair h100i (temps are fine)
CORSAIR Vengeance Pro 16GB
Samsung 840 pro ssd
EVGA SuperNOVA 1000G2 1000W ATX12V/EPS12V 80Plus Gold Power Supply

Well why on Earth you bought that RAM for that CPU is beyond me. What speed are you trying to run the RAM at? I also see it's rated at 1.65v, is that also the current voltage on the default settings?

Are you sure you didn't bend any pins on the motherboard?

I don't think so, I'm quite careful. Just boxed up mobo anyway to go back to amazon. I guess I'm focused on moving forward. Ordered an asus z87-a mobo (good review by [h]) and a new CPU 4670k just in case. I dont want to take any chances. Would a bad power supply power a gtx 770 well enough for me to finish metro last light?

Well, things are better with Z87-a mobo and a new 4670k chip. the only problem is that I can't get the overclock prime95 stable above 4.2g. So things are looking up overall.

4.2 doesn't sound unusual for Haswell from what I've read. Might be a below average result in the silicon lottery, but stable @ stock is all you're promised. Disappointing perhaps, but at least you're not screwed or dealing with manufacturer RMA waits and have more than enough power to run any current game.
