So all of a sudden, out of nowhere, I have been getting this message. I click restart the program, and it just pops back up again! It happens over and over. And I can't do anything while it's up on the screen! It does it in safe mode as well.

I'm running Windows Vista Ultimate, fully updated. This just started about 2 hours ago, without ANY changes to the system (updates, downloads, new installs, etc.).

When I click on Details in the diologue box, this is what I get:

mpegsplitter.ax - probably means it can't thumbnail a video correctly. Delete the video (ctrl-alt-del start task manager, run cmd.exe, del filename.xxx) or update whatever you use for codecs.

figured it out... it was part of the K-Lite codec pack. Probably got corrupted or something. Dunno how though. Uninstalled it and now everything is fine :)

Hate to bump an old thread, but...

I was having issues w/ Media Player Classic Homecinema x64, and thought it might be a codec related. I searched out and downloaded K-Lite Codec Pack 64bit (380). Rebooted, and instant problems. "Windows Explorer has stopped working" Restarted over and over. I had also updated the drivers on my Asus 4890, so I started with ATI. Rolled back the video card driver from safe mode. Still had the "Windows Explorer has stopped working" message. Uninstalled K-Lite from safe mode. Problem solved.

This thread was a lot of help; applies to W7 x64 too. Not just Vista.

recental y i got this error on my Vista
