Hey guys,
I seem to be having some big hard drive problems. I run a RAID setup in my computer with two 80Gb drives in RAID 0, and one 60GB and one 120GB in RAID 0 by themselves. Also for my other ide channels I have 1 DVD-/+R burner, DVDROM drive, CD Burner, and a 40GB drive. The two 80GB drives used to work so well, no problems at all. Then I installed another hard drive, and every now and then on of the drives isn't detected in the RAID post, and I just restart and it works fine. However, just recently I installed a DVD Burner, and now I am having way more problems. It seems that when I turn on the computer, I can hear all my drives spin up, then I hear a click like its lost its power, and I can hear it spin down again. Then it spins up, and of course it isn't getting detected by the RAID chip, so the array is damaged it says. I personally believe this is a power issue.
I have 8 IDE devices, and the rest of my specs are in my sig. But I do have a Antec 480W power supply. I was wondering if anyone had some insight to this problem?
I also noticed something strange the other day too. While my computer was on, I was moving the wire that connect one of my fans to the door on my computer and accidently hit one of the wires that was powering one of the 60GB drives. When I hit it, I heard that click and heard it slow down a little. But then I heard it power up again, and it was fine. What do you all think of that?
I will be running some tests today with my computer to see if what I can find out. Personally I don't think my Hard drives are dead. But its also not that big of a deal as I have all info backed up.
I am also using 3 power splitters for my computer because my power supply doesn't have enough ends on it. What do you guys think?
