Major Cooling issues.

Hey guys, I am having some cooling issues and looking for reccomendations.

Right now I have a very poorly laid out Full Tower Case, I think it is the big issue for cooling.

I am looking for a new case, but it has to meet some criteria:

I need to put the following Drives in it:
3 Cd Drives
1 5 1/4 Bay mount USB/Firewire Hub
1 Internal Zip
Floppy

3 Hard drives (One of which is a WD SATA Raptor)

I am thinking that my best bet will be to stick with full tower as I also have a full array of pci slots that will be filled (I am now using all 7 brackets on the back of my case, though not all of the actual PCI slots).

But I need to keep it cool with minimal noise.

I would like to avoid water cooling if I can, but if that is the only way then so be it.

Computer is a Pentium4 2.4B with 1GB Corsair XMS PC3200 in dual channel.

Mobo is a gigabyte GASINXP1394

Here is the other kicker. The computer HAS to sit on the floor at the right hand side of the desk. That mean a cooling fan on the left side will not help.

My biggest issue right now is keeping the Hard drives cool. The CPU is running hot, but not too bad.

Anyway, here is the case I am looking at right now:

What do you think about that case? Any suggestions for other options?

i think the way the motherboard mounts in that case would couse a problem of needing a really long power conector and getting in the way of other wires. Also to me that front it just weird looking unless you have the acual CD player that looks like that.
I have This Case and i like it the only thing is the front fans need to be run at 7 or 5 volts or they are to loud.

with dual front 80mm fans and the blow hole on top along with the two rear 80mm fans keeps the air moving right along. the power supply included is a little loud for quiet computing but it's not to bad also for the $50 cheaper this case is can buy a quieter PSU

I have 5 hard drives 2 DVD-rom drives a 5 1/4" fan controller in mine and the case temps are still good i am currently only using one rear exhust fan and no blow hole fan and the two front fans are at 5 volts.

I am actually a big fan of Raidmax cases. I have used several for custom builds for other people. I will dig through their selection. Thanks for the input.

Yes, I have always liked the Lian Li cases. I will have to see if prices are still where they used to be back when I bought this case (~5 years ago).

Just to add a little more info. My idle temps are about 45*C and my load temps are about 45*C with both sides of the case off and some extra fans running.

I have my HDD Temps down to about 40*C with the sides off and an 80mm fan blowing directly onto them.

Sorry, but that case is truly ugly.
Get a lian li or a thermaltake tsunami.

The tsunami is good, as it has two 120mm fans, and one is directly over the hds.
For your cpu, get a zalman 7000
for extra cooling on hds, maybe strap another 120mm fan to the side or something, but please for the love of life itself do not get that case

To be honest I don't really care how this computer looks. I am only concerned with function. I have found a Lian Li that I like that may work though.

I would never buy the case in the first post for anyone else, I just really don't care about looks for my work computer.

edit: I will take a look at that cooler though. I have the retail P4 Cooler on there now, so anything would have to be better.

*Hangs head in shame at using retail cooling.

it could look worse..............it could look like the antec toaster.............i mean P-160

:-P

i own a lian-li PC-6077, and it is a really good case. the price however.............is not so good.

it DOES keep my HDDs cool (2 raptors and a cavier), and the intake air filters, although they reduce airflow, really help cut down on in-case dust buildup.

for value, though, i LOVE my garage-sale special $10 CDN server case, modded to hell and back to accept 120 mm panaflo "low" fans.

The Antec P160 is ugly?

I like it and have only heard good things from others as well.

not knocking the design or features of the case, just the looks.

beauty is in the eye of the beholder, though, and there are probably people out there who like the way that it looks.

it's just that i am not one of those people.

I have the Tsunami Dream case

Has 4 ext 5.25 bays, 5 int 3.5 drive bays, is aluminum, cool, quiet, and cheaper than a lian-li. Here is an interior shot of it so you can see for space issues you might have.

And exterior,

I also dig the gloss finish.

Two 120MM fans and it cools my rig great with no extra case fans.

I am an appearance whore and somewhat picky about noise and hated my previous two cases. I LOVE this case.
