Mafia II

Yeah I just got passed a mission and had a chance to go see him. Going to do that when I go back to the game.

Very much so. Its very unique and its surprising how well the gameplay still stands up today.

Very true, the graphics don't look that outdated (game was released in 2002). I just hope Mafia II has this unique feeling that the original had, but I can't help but think that Mafia II will be a big dissapointment.(I really hope I am wrong!!!)

I like that they're going to the 50's. Its another unexplored era. I just hope they continue to keep to their own path and not join the crowd of GTA copy-cats.

Well there is nothing wrong with GTA IV, I like it very much but Mafia should not be a clone of GTA, it should be in it's own league, like Mafia 1 was against GTA Vice City (or whatever GTA was around in 2002)

Is Mafia II really set in the 50's? I thought it was the late 40's? It doesn't matter much to me lol.

I think someone in this thread mentioned 50s, either way it'll be an interesting setting.

I really didn't like GTAIV that much myself. Wasn't what I was looking for in a GTA game.

The contender was GTA3 not vice city. GTA3 for PC came out about 3-4months before Mafia 1. Even at that point people were calling it a GTA3 clone/copy even though there was no possible way, given the close release date.

I have fairly high hopes for the game. Pretty much everything Illusion softworks has come out with (now known as 2k Czech) have been games that I enjoyed to a degree. Big problem for them have always been bugs but generally I like their creativity and how they never have followed the model. While it was somewhat buggy and was not groundbreaking I truly enjoyed Vietcong which they also made.

I can handle buggy games as long as the rest of it is sound. Huge bugs are something one gets used to when they've played a lot of Black Isle, Bioware, and Bethesda games.

I agree. I liked the first one, but I felt it needed some more longevity.

I hope it has an online mode similar to GTA.

I would prefer this on the PC over the 360 though.

mafia 1 was also one of my top 3 games of all-time and i cannot wait for mafia-2 i also recently replayed mafia 1 and was impressed at how good the game looks and plays to this day

It's aged pretty well. There are a few minor refinements I'd like to see in the gameplay for part 2 but other than that I'm really incredibly stoked for Mafia 2.

I've been waiting for this game since I started playing the first Mafia on the day it was released.

I'm going to miss the blue grassy jazzy type music that I still have going through my head time to time because of the first game. Otherwise I can't wait.

I agree with you guys about how the original has held up. A little eye blinding HDR and plastic looking specular lighting and it could stand up to today's games. Another big point for it was the audio. Besides the music, everything from the ambient sounds to shell casings rolling on wooden floorboards. The game was an orgy for the ears.

Waiting for this game is already starting to get painful.

About the exploding cars, I thought "oh no, not another of those games :(", but when I think about it, had Mythbusters tried shooting at a 40's or 50's car without any modern day safety measures, I bet they could make it burn or even blow pretty easily.

I highly doubt it because therer are no modern safety devices that prevent bullets from blowing up gas tanks. It is just unlikely to happen because the is no spark created to ignite the fumes.

I wonder if there's still a chance in hell this thing streets in time for Christmas...

ZOMFG im so excited for this game, the original was and still is my favorite single player shooter that has ever been made and frankly mafia 2 looks to be even better by a wide margin ill be preordering this one

I AM SO EXCITED!!! When is it coming out again?

MAfia 1 was my favorite game ever!

If anything this has to be one of the most anticipated games for me. I absolutely loved everything about Mafia 1. So many great childhood memories playing that game. :D

This game will make me spend a fortune on a new rig I know it. And I will enjoy every second of it.

This game is not going to disappoint. I have a strong intuition for these things :)

Mafia 1 is still one of my top 5 PC games of all time...however, I tried playing it again a couple of months ago and was frustrated by driving the vehicles so I quit lol. It's like those 3 hour movies that are excellent, but you never watch em again.
