i'm trying to find a 9" lcd monitor, to fit in a mac se case... you know, itty bitty beige box came out in 91?

i'm trying to turn it into a pc, and an lcd monitor is the only way i'm going to fit everything in there. i've looked everywhere, even ebay, but no luck :(

anyone know where i can find one? :confused: i have no idea where to look...
 
bugger it. i'll just put a 9" window in there... any tips on cheap modding? i've got nothing but old 80s comps to sell and less than $100 to my name... hey, i'm going to college. whaddaya expect :rolleyes:

and, yeah, if i don't drop this thing like a hot potato cuz i got no money i will post pix.
 
btw i have decided to call this mod the "altair project" cuz the mac se is so old... anyone want to buy a commodore 64 or a ti-99/4a for 10 times what its worth so i have the $$ to see this through? pleez support your friendly neighborhood poor modder (that would be me) :rolleyes: yeah right like anybody's gonna go for early to mid 80s pcs on this site...
 
Heh, you'd be suprised. I still regret tossing my C-64 in the garbage...

This could be a cool mod, I'd like to see pics if you go for it! I thought you were talking about what turned out to be a IIci (used to work on those things.. friggin' workhorses.)
 
ok, here's the support me post:

ill sell the following for the following price.

commodore 64 w/o cables, peripherals... no guarantee that it even works: $50
ti-99/4a in same condition: $50
pentium I 150mhz full tower (previous lives as a server & architects comp): $200
pentium II 400mhz full tower (cobbled together in somebody's garage): $500

both the c64 & ti-99/4a are in perfect condition, casewise... just that they used proprietary cable hookups, and i got them at the dump so they don't have cables.

i can also sell a commodore vic-20 for $50, which is 100x my initial investment (50 cents at the local flea market)

lemme know just how crazy you think i am :rolleyes:
 
Lol.. You might want to check that 400 Mhz system against the [H] $500 budget guide. :D ;)
 
and where do i find this budget guide...?

besides i'm desperate. i just want $$ and that's the best way to get it.
 
currently thinking a via epia v 10000a mobo plus 1gb ddr sdram, not sure of the rest... anyone have suggestions? think due to small size of this thing, i'm going to have to limit it to being a htpc. :rolleyes: got a bigger mobo out there will fit in that thing?

oooh nice, thanks for that link.. theres a 4'' lcd for $89.. I could use that to make a little lcd for holding winamp... anyone know of a program that would do it or how to do it past that? :)
