while trying to view video in internet explorer on my administrative user account it works fine. But in a non-administrative user account, I am unable to play the video. comes back with a message saying" Install flash player".
You have to find a folder on your drive, which I think is \System32\Macromed. In it there will be a setup utility file. If you run that as the admin, it will update Flash correctly and work properly.
I have a few systems here doing that same thing. The first one, I tried several things and eventually it worked, then I tried the same things on the second one that I finished on the first one with, but it didn't work. I finally found out, by the 8th system I fixed, that simply rebooting no less than 7 times actually fixes it.
I swear, either Adobe or MS, very probably both, really need to get their act together.
Edit: I forgot to mention: between reboots, let the system fully log in and finish loading everything until it is idle beforce rebooting again. It is like there is a series of files or changes that have to take place during those reboots that don't finish with just 1 or 2.
The method I gave above is the fix for all the Adobe troubles since the buyout. I also haven't had that problem in the past month on new systems, with the newest Flash Player installed. This issue started cropping up when Adobe bought out Macromedia.
That's exactly how it was for me. It seemed to work for a while, and then after a round of updates, it stopped working, regardless of the PC was running XP or Vista. I stumbled across the Macromed instructions, and it worked for the time being. Now, on fresh builds, with the absolute latest version, I don't have this issue anymore.
