I have about 50 different machines with identical hardware configurations: Biostar M7VIQ, and Radeon 7000's. 3 of them (so far) are experiencing this problem. These are workstations, meaning they are not overclocked in any way. While sitting at the desktop they eventually get a gost image of the icons to the left of the actual icons, and anytime a small window is opend it does the same.

I have tried swapping in a known good card into the machine, it does the same thing. Then when you put that known good card back into the machine it was "borrowed" from It does the same thing there also. (I have only duplicated this once as I didnt want to end up with any more screwy cards than I already have.)

What kind of testing can I do to verify that this is or is not a video problem?

You mean you get the ghosting on the "borrowed or good" machine after you put the good card back into the good machine? Are you useing the same monitor for all the testing?

I've tried multiple monitors (multiple "test stations" actually). The problem seems to get worse the higher the resolution, it is just noticeable after 10 minutes at 1024X768 but the artifacts almost instantly cover part of the screen in 1280X1024.
