Machine check exception , personal experience only pls

Im dealing with a machine check exception that occures when im running orthos for over 8 hours. Readings on temp are good. Power (software readings) is good.

Never have any actual error from Orthos just the BSOD machine check exception. I have tried 3 different brands of memory and it happens with all of them. The issue will go away when im running stock speeds.

All I want is a head start. I want to know if anyone has succeeded in eliminating the Machine Check Exception without changing the actual Overclock speeds. Did you raise Vcore? Did you raise NBVoltage? Did you lower either?

Its an E8500 e0 stepping at 3.8ghz. Voltage is only at 1.275.
 
I was asking for the readers personal experience.

Clearly I do not need a hint to look into voltage.
 
I wont tell you to try raising your CPU voltage a bit then.
i would have expected you to try this before posting though, so it cant be the problem ;)

ps that is my personal experience, it seems you dont want anyone to reply !
 
yeah its cpu voltage just like everyone else has been saying.. thats the only way that error would come up.. if it was northbridge voltage you would get a memory error on an intel based system usually..

Not that difficult. I was not sure if lowering CPU voltage while OC'd could also help with this issue. From the way you are talking voltage being too high could never cause this bsod?
 
no the voltage being to high would not cause that issue.. only it being to low.. you could run a processor at 1.4v and leave it on the stock clock and it still wouldnt cause that issue.. it would just run hotter then normal..
 
I also have an E8500 with E0 stepping, on an Asus P5Q Pro w/ 4 sticks of 6400 RAM. I had the same voltage set, 1.275.

At FSB of 420, I started getting BSOD's. I raised the CPU voltage slightly, and also Northbridge and southbridge voltages, and the problem went away. In fact, I raised my FSB to 423. My ram is set to 1/1 ratio / running at 846. So my cpu runs at about 4.02 Ghz now.

If you don't want to raise CPU voltage, I suppose you could lower the RAM to lowest possible setting/multiplier, and try bumping up other voltages first and see if the problem goes away.

Also, I don't remember the specific error codes on my BSOD's, but I believe they were memory address errors.

memory address errors = northbridge voltage usually.. that is if you are running your memory at the correct voltages and within spec of the memory..

Absolutely not. Too high of a voltage won't cause a BSOD.

This is clearly caused by too low voltage... I mean, ffs, 1.275v @ 3.8ghz?

No personal experience needed - this is self explanatory!
