Machine check Exception Errror on an Socket 939 system

Hi everybody,
I have a Socket 939 system Athlon 4000+ 2.3 installed on a Asus A8N SLI DEluxe motherboard 4gigs of ram, EGeforce 6800 GS video card with an Windows XP operating system. After one night when i was at work My wife told me we lost electric for about 10 minutes.. Next day I turned my desktop up and I gave me Machine check Exception error and keep restarting .. I could get the xp loaded in safe mode and reinstallt he lastest update thinking that that might be my problem.. It did not fix it. So I decided to do a fresh install of operating system.. Everything goes as supposed to till Xp getting started at the first time.. I get a blue screen.. I redid the fresh install with my spare HD same result.. , Tried a different PSU no change.. I am open to any ideas and help at this point..

machine check exception error = cpu voltage is to low..

reset your bios or go into the bios and/or increase the CPU voltage 1 notch.. see if that solves the problem.. but reset the bios first and see what happens.. either go into the bios and use safe default or optimized default or you can just pull the cmos battery for 30 seconds with the psu unplugged during that time..

no reason to upgrade if its working for you the way you want it.. hell i was happy with my x2 BE-2350 am2.. only reason i switched to the 940 was for Folding@home..
 
Check your temps and ram. I had this when overclocking past 3.1ghz on my older 939. Reseat your videocard. Try to isolate the problem and try to just start with the basic stuff. It could be something malfunctioning.
 
no I do not...
I broke the cpu fan retaining bracket while putting back the set up together.. so I am looking for that bracket.. Till I get that fixed I have no way of testing it.. I will let you know asa I get back to fixing th eerror message..

well that sucks.. which bracket was it? the one on the heatsink or the one on the motherboard?

I recieved the bracket yesterday and put everything together.. I cleared the cmos and My desktop is runing as it should without no blue screen errors..

It was working like adream and today When I tried to turn it on.. it gave me same error.. I am very very aggrivated by it.. Everything was working like a dream.. I did not add or remove any hardware to the computer... I could start it up and get into windows xp in safe mode..
Any Help and advice is appriciated..

if you can get into safe mode and load up cpu-z could you post what cpu voltage it is showing? or if the bios has a health monitor and shows actual voltages could you post the cpu voltage? from what i can find the stock voltage should be 1.51v if your below that then it would explain the machine exception errors.. you could also try bumping the voltage up to 1.55v and see what happens..

Tha is the cpu I have. I will post the voltage of the cpu. I can get that info under bios.

under my bios hardware monitor I see voltages for the v core, 3.3V, 5V, and 12V.
I assume cpu voltage is the V core and it is 1.36V.
Lets see if i can bumb it up to 1.51v on that....

I could only bump the v core parameters up to 1.50V... so I did it. Same thing happens..

I can tell you that machine check exceptions do not necessarily mean the processor voltage is low. It means that the processor detected a hardware problem. It can be a configuration problem, a bad power supply, bad motherboard, bad memory or a bad cpu.


BTW, MCE errors have codes that you can lookup to see what the nature of the error is.

How can I get the codes out..Blue screen only appears a second before it restarts itself..

right click my computer, properties, advanced, start up and recovery settings.. then uncheck automatically restart under system failure..

I'd put my money on a bad stick of RAM. Might want to download Memtest86+ and burn it to a cd then boot to it. If you get any red lines after an hour or so, you've got a bad stick of RAM

First thank your for your help and replies.. I decided to upgrade the hardware I have and purchased a mobo with a amd quad core cpu. I should recieve the items in 5 days and I should be up and running next week sometime.
