We recently got a first gen aluminum macbook pro and upgraded it from tiger to leopard (just a leopard install dvd) and now there is no sound coming out of the speakers. Even on startup you do not hear the normal Apple "chime". Tried zapping the PRAM, but to no avail. I'm up for suggestions at this point...anyone?

Was the speaker working before you upgraded to Leopard? It's very suspicious that an OS update would kill hardware like that. I'd wager the speaker has just gone bad.

It was working before and if it was the speakers then the headphone jack should work correct? Well neither the headphone jack or speakers will produce sound. Thats why I think it some sort of driver or something that didn't get loaded.

If you didn't load up apps and stuff, just try reinstalling. It doesn't take very long.

Sorry I don't have a firm solution for you.

did you check the sound preferences and check that the internal speakers are selected under output...or are even available.
