Macbook Pro - 2007 - Problem seeing USB as drive

Hey guys,

I have a Macbook pro 2007 that i've swapped the harddrive for a SSD (C4 M4 from crucial)
I cloned to a new SSD the C4, swapped it out of my desktop and put it in the MBP.

The MBP sees the drive, but when I'm trying to create a bootable USB with either Yosemite or El Capitan, the MBP can't detect the USB as a drive.

Trying to do a bootable image on windows, I tried Transmac, I tried Win32DiskImager
The USB drive is GPT

I even resetted my PRAM.

What could I try next?

My last resort is to find someone with a mac and creating a bootable USB from theirs... trying to avoid that If I can.

Any help is appreciated

Yeah, you're probably going to have to find someone with a mac to make it properly bootable. Got an apple store you and go into and use one of their demo machines?
 
I have a 2007 MBP that I was able to clean install El Cap from a USB a while back. I'd be sure the USB is a relatively small capacity USB2 model. Mine is an 8GB USB2 oldie.

I'm -not- sure if a firmware update was needed to get this to work, as it was given to me fresh from use and the previous owner likely did any updates Software Update offered.

Pretty sure they'll march his ass out of there unless he plans on buying a new Apple. Aren't they now labeling computers older than 5 years as "vintage Macs?"

Older than 5 years from the date of the last serial number of that model year sold. Most 2010 models go vintage next week or have within the last few months. Just because its vintage doesnt mean they will kick him out. The Genius Bar will still do software supprt and install any OS it can run at no charge. If all he needs is to create a USB boot drive then any of the demo machines can be done for that. They are there to use and to try out the system. I have never seen or heard of anyone at an apple store kicking someone out for that. Besides, just a simple reboot will restore it before anything was messed up.
Hell, I saw a kid spill a bottle of Mt. Dew on a macbook pro once and the store took it off the table and had it replaced a day or two later, the kid just helped clean up and used another machine.
