Macbook or Macbook Pro?

You could.... paint it white?

;)

Ehh, too much sarcasm.

I just wipe mine down using standard household cleaner/duster and my MarWare screen/keyboard wipe that came with the protection pack (I have long since removed the black pad because it kinda got messed up one day and never went back to normal.)

I've had to put something inbetween screen and keyboard as the keyboard marks the screen and it really annoys me :( It can be hard ti clean the screen too, so i'm going to buy something to do it, as i've tried things in the house.

The MarWare protection pack is good. The screen-wipe/keyboard-cover is really good, and if you're afraid of fingerprints then the palm-rest/pad is great too.

Hey guys

Is it possible to connect a dell 2407 via dvi to a Macbook? While its nice, the 13inch screen isnt cutting it when not on the road...

thanks!

im guessing no one wants to copy their rc2/ current vista beta dvd for me, and send it my way?

If I weren't in spain until the 28th I'd have offered to mail mine already. I've got enough copies.

i am sure it is just a rumour, think, how could they fit an external vid card into a 12" laptop, the whole idea of the 12" is battery life and portability "ultra-portable", and adding a seperate vid card can suck up alot of power and no need for it on a 12" screen.

Yes, power consumption would be the main issue. But, almost no laptops of any kind have actual video cards.... both the 'integrated' or latest and greatest nVidia or ATI in laptops are usually just a chip or two on one of the laptop boards. I think it is more a matter of cost, and as you possibly noted power savings.

But, I agree with markintosh13, many people would expect the pro model to have the better GPU, as well as very good support for external displays of large sizes. (Though even the MacBook supports external displays for normal desktop use.)

Do you mean the screen or the MacBook itself? Basically, you want to use something that is soft and lint-free for cleaning either I would think. Some companies make special cleaning kits for the screen. I'm not sure about the new 'glossy' screen, but avoid cleaners in general, like Windex type stuff.

I typically have just used a damp paper towel... but I'm not sure that is the best advice for the new glossy screen. Paper towels can have fibers in them that scratch... so probably best to get a cloth for the actual purpose. I've always just been really careful. I've been thinking about getting something for my wife's MB though, as I don't want to scratch it.

Her's is also white... so I don't really know about the black. I never really though of the black showing fingerprints more... but I guess that makes sense. Good question.

Yes, as DaCoOlNeSs said, you'll need the adapter to get to normal sized DVI. I have not heard of any issues driving that size display with it... but I've not tried it either. 1920x1200 can be a tricky rez for some video cards to drive over DVI, but I can't say I've ever heard of a problem doing so with any of the Macs. (1920x1200 is pretty much right at the edge of what a single-link DVI port can drive... and unfortunately, several video chips can't properly do it.)

You might want to jump over to one of the threads for the Dell, and ask if anyone has tried it with the MacBook. I'll be hopefully trying it with a MacBook Pro one of these days... as I'm thinking of getting one, and we got some in at the office. But, I don't have a MB there to test with.

Well, if it's any consolation. My friend brought his Macbook Pro over here and hooked it up to my 2407 with no problems. The only problems were ATi's crappy multi monitor management but that's a given and they've always been bad at it ;)

I got a chance to try a mac mini with the Dell 2407, and it worked fine. I even played back some HD trailers... they played just fine as well.

The mini used the same video chip, though in the MB, it would have to drive both the internal and the external displays at once. However the Apple spec page for the MB says that it can drive its internal display, and and external at up to 1920x1200. I'd have no reason not believe that.
