I just got a new macbook, and i love iPhoto. It's so much easier to use with my Rebel XT than it is on my PC.

Since I normally take pictures of parties and group outings with my friends, I like to post the pics up on flickr, but it's kind of a pain. It seems that the integration between iPhoto/iWeb and .mac could really simplify things, but I'm not sure. I really like the idea of having a nice clean looking blog/photocast thing that would be easy for me to use and easy for my friends and family to check out.

Is .mac worth it? Is it really that easy? Or would it be a better idea to stick with flickr or some other method?

I like it. I use it for the transportable bookmarks and address book and iWeb integration. $99 a year is only $8 a month, and compared to most web hosts for what you get with .mac, you're getting a decent deal. Add in the e-mail and backup syncs and free anti-virus program, and it's a great deal, IMO.

I was wondering the same thing too awhile ago, but I really like the bookmark & sync feature and while I don't use iWeb too or take many photos--I've played around with it. It is 'dead' easy! The integration is seamless and perfect for what you mentioned, I plan on using it for my cousin's wedding. Plus, yourname@mac.com--makes you look important haha!

.mac is designed for what you want to do; a tightly integrated solution tying the i-apps to the internet and sharing online. As previously stated, it is very easy to use all of features integrated into .mac. If you have an apple store near you, I would recommend going in for a demo (and if you purchased your computer from apple within 2 weeks, they should be willing to knock it down to $69).

its totally worth it...

but

buy it on ebay like i did, i think i paid like 60 bucks or so for it there.

well its depends on what you use it for. If your hosting pictures on a website, then it's worth it. but if your using it to back up your stuff online, then wait for the gdrive to come out.

I miss my old mac and wish I had enough money to buy another one :( This PC comes nowhere close to my old G4 .
