Hey y'all,
I have finally decided to take my email backups seriously. I am curious if anyone could give their mail backup strategy. I know how to export mail boxes and keep them on another machine or disk not connected to his laptop, but I am curious if people archive and then delete the mail from the live mailbox every so often, or just make monthly backups and leave all mail on the server also, or just let time machine do it. Anyway thanks for any info.

Gmail, or any IMAP protocol email in general. IMAP stores your messages on the server and syncs locally.

Who is your provider for mail? If it's POP3 then I'd understand backups as that mail is all kept locally. If you're referring to iCloud and/or gmail type IMAP services, then you need not worry... your data is already backed up.
