does apple still support the older powerpcs processors, like the g4/g5 macs? where can i get the latest mac os x version for older powerpc cpus?

but no, the newer versions of OSX don't suppport the PPC. Although I'm not sure which version stopped support of the PPC.
 
OS X 10.5 Leopard was the last version of OSX that supported the PowerPC processor. Snow Leopard and all of them from now on basically through those out with the bathwater, so to speak...
