Mac external drive on WinXP?

I use a Macintosh formatted external hard drive for school work involving Final Cut Pro, but I'd like to also access the hard drive on my WinXP system. Is there any way to do this?
 
None that I know of. I've tried before doing the same thing, for exactly the same reason, minus the FCP part (was using Premiere on the mac). Was totally SOL. Hell, I couldn't even format the drive when I tried.
