Hi everyone. I'm hoping somebody has had a similar situation and knows a fix. I'm ready to buy a new motherboard but I'd rather not if I can avoid it.

I'm running an M3N78-VM motherboard with a Regor 240 processor. This worked fine for a while but now it won't boot. When I press power, the fans spin up and I think I can hear the HD whir up, but, no video at all.

*Something* changes as my TV/monitor reacts to the computer be turned on but no video goes to the screen. I can't even get to the BIOS menu. I tried resetting the CMOS (multiple times, once overnight) with the jumper as well as by pulling the battery, but had no success.

Anyway, this post is a last ditch effort before I buy a new motherboard.

Any tips?

check your memory, pull any other hardware plugged into the pci slots, etc.

Check to make sure you're not grounding it to the case or something.

As a last resort, I'd "bench test" it. You can do this by removing the board from the case and placing it on a piece of cardboard. Remove all unnecessary parts (you'll probably just have RAM and CPU attached). Make sure the fan for the CPU cooler is plugged into the motherboard.

Plug the PSU into the motherboard. Now take a screwdriver and jump the two pins where the power switch would connect. This should turn the motherboard on.

Since you're not at a bar minimum configuration, this should post for you.

Thanks for the replies. I'll give this a shot tonight. I guess I was just being lazy;)

I had swapped RAM a couple of times before the problem began but I've tested this computer with known good RAM so I know that's not the problem. I probably just jiggled something loose or tweaked something on the motherboard in the process.

A bench test seems like a good idea. I'll let you know.

I know this was like half a decade ago, but by chance do you happen to remember what ended up being wrong with the board? Was the problem resolved or was the board essentially abandoned? Seems a lot of people had problems with this board. I'm trying to figure out if there's anything I can actually try rather than random troubleshooting which wouldn't lead me anywhere anyway (a friend had his power supply go out on this board; I replaced it and now it starts up but doesn't boot as you described). Thanks!
