I put together my new system last night
I've run into a few problems so far and thought maybe some of you could help out.

Here's the rig:
Asus M3A78-T bios version 701
Phenom ii x4 940
Scythe Orochi HSF
(more details in signature)

Problems:
1) MB and CPU are possibly running hot both around 55 degrees celcius or 130F after a few minutes. The readings are from the BIOS HW monitor.

2) I get CPU fan error every time I boot up, in the bios the monitor is saying 500rpm and Scythe Orochi specs say it runs at 500rpm

3) During POST it says 4gb DDR2-800 but I installed 4gb DDR2-1066. I can't find the setting in the BIOS to configure the RAM.

4) Can't install winxp for some reason, hangs about 3/4 of the way through installation.

yes they are all spinning and facing the correct direction.

Is that a hot temp for the MB and CPU?

nice setup.

Try another fan in the cpu header and see how it reads, maybe a bad rpm sensor on the fan. In the bios, there is not halt instructions which means it doesn't idle rather than just running full load.

Ram has to be set manually from jumper free configuration under cpu tweak there are DRAM timing configuration. also in DRAM settings set Ganged mode to disabled.

As for the XP install, might be a scratched disc, does it blue screen during the install?

Edit: also if you have a floppy or usb thumbdrive, get bios 802 and use ez update from the bios under tools to flash it in, there was updates for the phenom cpu's with 802. One last thing would be setup your voltages manually, mine setup my 940be at 1.45v on auto which is higher than needed, setup for 1.325v.

hey thanks for the help.

I think the fan for my HSF max's at 500rpm, but the BIOS doesn't like it, oh well.
Still issues at this point, will have to play around with the bios and maybe reapply thermal paste to my HSF.

i have this board as well, check the mounting on the nb&pwm area(mine were poorly mounted)after putting water on the nb and solid mounting pwm sink im running 41c to 46c mb temp.
