After searching the net for two days straight, I decided that we M2N-E users should start a thread with our experiences with this board and different types of RAM.

My setup includes 1GB (1 stick) of G-Skill DDR2-667. Won't run at 667, but works fine at 533. Voltage is set to auto and timings are 4-4-4-12. My setup was too unstable/unpredictable with the second stick of the same RAM.

Specs:
A64 3000+
ASUS M2N-E motherboard
Maxtor 300GB SATA150 HDD
Enermax 550W PSU
Sapphire X1800XT 256MB PCI-E video card.
Emprex DVD-RW
Lite-on CD-RW
 
I can't even get my M2N-E to run with two sticks of Corsair or Patriot. DO NOT buy this motherboard, worst on the market.

works fine, although timings are pretty weak.

My friend got the M2N-E and 2gb of Corsair PC6400 running at 5-5-5-12. No probs. It's the same kind I have in my M2N32-SLI, no probs. You might try using one stick at a time to check for bad ram or try different slots as someone said earlier.

ok, after literally 6 hours of being on the phone with Asus tech support and doing some work on my own, I discovered that the problem was a faulty round IDE cable... I'm bringing that thing back to Fry's and giving them a piece of my mind. I used the ribbon cable that Asus provided and it worked on the first try. Now XP Pro is currently installing and I'll tell all of you how stable it is with a gig of Corsair RAM in about 2 hours. I'm happy.
 
I am running two sticks of 1 gig XMS 6400 at 5-5-5-12 in my m2n-e at the moment. Everything is perfectly stable at stock, now I am trying to see where I can take it.

That seems to be the RAM that everyone runs on this board... including me. I've been playin through Half-life 2 all night, it runs flawlessly :)
 
i've just ordered a pc with m2n-e and Corsair 2 x 1024Mb DDR2-667. Hope it works out fine.
 
I have a question for you guys....any of you running plain old corsair (value select or something?) or is everyone running XMS?
 
With AM2 boards being as picky as they are with ram, I don't see anyone planning on using value ram in their builds unless they are strapped for cash and are willing to risk incompatibility issues.
 
Just a though....Since RAM seems to be a problem with all AM2 boards, maybe the problem isn't in the boards.....maybe the problem is with the DDR2 mem controller on the AM2 cpus.
 
I put together the rig in my signature and it worked just fine. Just make sure your BIOS is updated.

If you want reliable RAM you are probably going to have to shell out a decent amount of cash.....my RAM was twice the price of my CPU.
 
OCZ XTC PLAT 6400 doesn't work at all.. well its really unstable

I've tried updating the BIOS to 201, even to the 301beta(you can find a link for this beta on asus support forums if your interested)

Not stable at all...Tried everything. underclocked the RAM to 533/667 and loosened the timings, still no luck. Mem test gives me 50k+ of errors.

So im returning the mobo and going with the M2N32-SLI deluxe, even though i don't need SLI ..maybe it will be better for overclocking, who knows, but as long as it works i will be happy

EDIT: And of course i've tried maxing out the vdimm at 1.95volts from the BIOS, with no result..although this did allow me to finally post and install windows. Once in windows i upped the vdimm even more from the AI booster ASUS overclocker utility
the system crashed on me when i upped it to 2.0 volts and above...
 
See sig for my system specs... my story is that my system had massive BSOD issues out of the box. Seems the board shipped with the 0103 BIOS. Once I flashed to the 0203 I have had pretty good stability to this point.

Only downside is everytime I up the FSB, even when reducing HT two 4x, my computer refuses to boot into windows. The first time I tried it at 230x10 it was fine, played CS:S on it for 2 hours. Now everytime I go back to the BIOS and up the FSB from the stock 200, it will not show any video at all. Lame.

That's my current experience... RAM seems fine to date.
 
In regards to the OCZ....from everything I hear, ASUS motherboards and OCZ memory don't go together very well.

My G-skill is actually working out pretty well right now. Overclocked to 2.25GHz (from 1.8GHZ stock) with no stability issues, although sometimes it won't boot, but when it does it works fine. This is with the 0301 beta BIOS.
