Hi guys

To make a short story i got a M1015 LSI raid that i ordered pre flashed whit the IT fw.
I am trying to create a raid 1 whit my 2 x 2tb seagates for redundancy that i intend to use whit freenas on esxi
now i dont know if i am doing somthing wrong, but where do i create the raid ?

The only place i can go is in LSI menu by holding CTRL+C .
is this normal whit the IT fw ?:confused:

i saw screenshot that have a RAID option in there i can confirm i dont have it.
Also i cant get to WEBbios, nor i can boot on it.

Heres my setup
I7 3770
Asrock z77 pro3
M1015 , 2x Seagate 2tb
ESXi 5.01

any help would be appreciated thank you

I'm confused. You deliberately flashed the m1015 with the IT firmware, which is NOT the firmware if you want any kind of raid, but rather the stock IR firmware. ???

i actually order it like that since the seller offer kindly witch flash i wanted and i tough thats what i needed,

Now my need, is to store picture , movie, app..... more as a backup, Whitch fw would you recommend ?

Whats the use of the IT fe anyways ?

ha , oki this is confusing me , since my card is a hardware raid i dont see why would somone would want to do that, anyways my goal is just to stream mkv to my tv and store data as i said , so what do you guys recommended for that IR fw ?
whit what OS freenas, Openindiana, or open filer , speed and reliability wise ?

People use the IT firmware for ZFS, if you want to run RAID, you need the IR.

If you are just using vanilla NAS stuff, stick with what you know, have the card flashed to IR and don't sweat it.

the only raid i had before , was a intel matrix , so i am pretty lost .

sorry to ask but what do you mean by vanilla ?

If this is just a standard NAS (windows SMB access or whatever) and your tech level is not very high for things like this, don't bother with stuff like ZFS - just have someone reflash it to IR and create your mirror in the LSI BIOS.
