They have these on Amazon and Walmart does anyone use these I already have a USB3 to Sata 3 SSD but don't have a M.2 Dock. Or are the transfers too slow or is it just a pain to use? I suppose you risk breaking the drive since they are pretty fragile .

I have one piece of this style of dock.

It worked once and then on a disk change never again. I suspect that there is dust in the slot. Can't recommend.

I have one, and it works. The speed is going to be based off of your NVMe SSD, your USB port, and your M.2 dock. USB3.2 Gen2 is 10Gbps ÷ 8 = 1250MB/s. If you use USB 3.0, it's half that. if you use USB 3.2 Gen2x2, that's 20Gbps, but you'll need a port with that (like the ASUS Z690-P WiFi D4), and a M.2 dock that supports 20Gbps (as well as a NVMe SSD that can reach speeds of 2500MB/s).

USB 4.0 is 40Gbps
USB 4.0 Gen2 is 80Gbps
USB 5.0 will also be 80Gbps
