I just purchased a S3 IS to get myself introduced to shooting and I'd love to shoot the lunar Eclipse tonight but this being my first venture into photography I have no idea on how to go about getting good shots. My first guess would be to experiment with a higher ISO but beyond that what would be ideal to tinker with settings wise?

not sure how the eclipses work, but its finished over an hour ago here in the UK, hope you get to see it, its a really beatuiful red.

sorry i dont have an answer to your question as i dont even own a camera, just letting you know you may of missed the eclipse. :(

Put it in Manual mode and TInker. Its over here, but if your on the West Coast you might catch it. It should last long enough for you to find a setting that will work. I wouldn't crank up the ISO speeds unless you have to, way to much noise.
