Basiccly we have about 100 grand to spend on electronics in the near future so im looking at some of the best digital camera money can buy. Me and my parents were looking at a $1400 (CDN) 6 megapixel cannon one. Can anyone give me info on this a few around the same price and tell me which ones would be best. Thanks.

Canon EOS 10D(1.5k USD), or the new 1D Mark II (4.5k USD)

If you really want ludicrous the 1Ds, but thats 5-6k USD

Ludaricly, heh, i like that one.

get the newly announced canon 1D markII $4500, if you got money to burn :)

if you want the best, get a canon eos-1Ds for about $7000 us dollars

if you want the best sports camera, get the canon eos-1D Mark II camera for $4500 us dollars

if you have $100k to spend on electronics, id go for somthing nice

If you buy a digi-SLR you have to worry about buying lenses and such. If thats not a concern to you then go for the Canon 10D with a good canon 28-135 and maybe the new 12-24 from sigma. That should keep you totally covered. Will probably run just over 2K.

If you can't be bothered with carrying around a bag of bits go for the canon G5 or Nikon 5700. Both are exceptional prosumer digicams.

if he has 100k, the 28-135 is not good

if i could have 100k to spend on camera equipment id go crazy with lenses, like:

14mm f/2.8
16-35mm f/2.8
15mm fisheye
50mm f/1.4
50mm f/1.0
85mm f/1.2
24-70mm f/2.8
135mm f/2.0
180mm f/3.5 macro
200mm f/1.8
300mm f/2.8
400mm f/2.8
600mm f/4.0

that would be the ultimate lens arsenal i think, :p and it would take a large portion of that 100k

but he should look at the 24-70mm f/2.8 and then decide if he needs anything wider or more tele

Well selling our house for just under a half mill cause its getting to be too much yard work and moving into the city so we have come cash to burn, somes going towards bills ect. but were looking at plasma and a diga camera. Ill definitly be looking into the 10D and maybe the G5.

I wouldn't go Plasma. Try Sony LCD. Much better picture, overall.

Or, if you think you'll have the room, you can go rear-projection? :p

I'd go:
Canon EOS 1D Mark II ~$4500
16-35mm f2.8L ~$1370
24-70mm f2.8L ~$1300
70-200mm f2.8L IS ~$1650
400mm f2.8L IS ~$6500
1.4x Teleconverter ~$280
2.0x Teleconverter ~$280

Canon A80 (for when you need something pocketable) ~$400

Right around $16k if you shop around, hehe. Then spend $14k on a home theater setup and the remaining $70k on a BMW M3. Why can't this be my money? :(

:p

me agrees execept throw in the 15mm fisheye. !!!!!! man 100K would just be luvly. heh i graduate in june so depending how much $$ i get i may be able to have myself a good lil shopping spree : D!

Canadian, remember. $70k CDN is about the price of an M3, though I'd rather get an E320 :)

And guys, he wants to spend 1-2k CDN on the camera, his 100,000 isn't only for cameras!

As for the TV, I recommend getting a NICE projector :)

Camera is only going to be for taking pics at home/vacation ect. although I still want something nice. Im really liking the 10D

You could buy a Contax medium-format camera and buy any one of the digital-backs (20 megepixel+) that's compatible w/ it... Of course those two alone would probably set u back a good $25k+ USD. :D... You can waste the rest of money on Lens and other attachments.

There u got urself a photo studio. ^_^

Personally unless you really need or can use the capabilities of the high-eng Canon, dun bother. Save a few hundred dollars and buy the digital Rebel. You can use the money saved to get some nice lens and other stuff. If you are printing them out on paper at 4x6 size a decent 3mp camera would look as good as anything. in fact, a good 4mp digicam can resolve all the way to 10x8 w/ no problem. So just think about that before dumping 2 grand on something that might very well be overkill. :)

cheers,

Yass
