i recently received a LSI MR320-2E raid card from a friend , same card as this one here on e-bay.

currently i run 1 to 3 SCSI drives on a LSI20320IE and have been for years no problem.

when i removed the original card and then installed the megaraid card, the bios finds the megaraid card fine, but gives me an error if i try to enter setup for megaraid card, this is with on drive installed, it is set to scsi id 3.

if i let the system boot past the megaraid setup, it boots fine, but of course the drive is not there.

so my question is, what is causing the mismatch between disk and NVRAM on the card ?

i think i can get this card to run in windows 7 using server 2003 drivers.

I have seen termination errors cause this particular issue on the megaraid SCSI cards. Is your cable/terminator U320 qualified? Another time I have seen this error is a battery issue. Pull the battery cable from the card and leave it for 30 minutes. Plug the card back in without the battery and try to get into the bios config util.

Lastly, here are the steps to fix it once you get into the bios util:

2.12.1 Resolving a Configuration Mismatch
If the replacement controller has a previous configuration, the message
Unresolved configuration mismatch between disk(s) and NVRAM
on the adapter displays during the power-on self test (POST) stating
that there is a configuration mismatch. A configuration mismatch occurs
when the configuration data in the NVRAM and that on the hard disk
drives are different. You need to update the configuration data in
the NVRAM
with the data from the hard disk drive. Perform the following steps
to resolve
the mismatch.
Step1. Press <Ctrl> <M> when prompted during bootup to access the
BIOS Configuration Utility.
Step2. Select Configure&#8212;>View/Add Configuration.
This gives you the option to view both the configuration on the
NVRAM and the hard drive disk.
Step3. Select the configuration on disk.
Step4. Press <Esc> and select YES to update the NVRAM.
Step5. Press <Esc> to exit, then reboot.
 
yes the scsi cable has a terminator on the end and works fine on my other scsi card.

i will try the steps you posted next week or so, too busy now.

also, i can run the card without the memory and battery on it ?

SCSI? CRT monitor pic? I had to check the date of this post a few times...

Pull the drive, memory and BBU and test. It may be a bad card.
 
I have a few MegaRaid SCSIs sitting in the closet somewhere for when parallel scsi comes back into vogue :)
