LSI MegaRaid and write-back caching for passthrough devices

I'd like to know if the LSI MegaRaid controllers, specifically the 9271-8i, can do write-back caching for passthrough devices. I read that JBOD mode has to be specifically enabled for the controllers and then for the specific devices. I fear that I would lose the write-back caching feature in the process. I'd be glad if someone has tested this before and can answer my question.
