Hi all, first a quick hello. Landed on this forum a number of times via google searches for a whole variety of things over the years and again today. Figured this would be the perfect place to ask for some help perhaps.

Actually read the thread '8 to 16 SSDs RAID 0' and was an awesome thread. I've been a big fan of raid cards and SSD benching etc, even more so over any other type of hardware testing. Actually a lot of AndyE's replies where amazing and very informative.

So onto my problem at hand:

Recently installed an LSI 9271-8i, dropped into the 4th PCIe slot on the Asus Maximus VI Extreme. Upon boot I am presented with the initial LSI screen (I once had a LSI 9260-8i so familiar). However I then get the error message:

F/W is in Fault State - MFI Register State 0xF0010002

Adapter at Baseport is not responding
No MegaRAID Adapter Installed

Literally no joy getting into the card web bios.

Tried installing windows 7 on another SSD connected direct to the board. Within device manager you can see raid controller so I went ahead to manually install the latest driver from the LSI website. The driver initially starts to install until presenting with an error code 10 (device failed to start). Other than this I also tried to install the latest firmware, within the CMD update it said it could not find a raid card however.

Other than I've tried reseating the card, removing SAS cables, reconnecting cables and in a second motherboard.

I suppose one of the main reasons I opted to check a forum for any help was after my confusing calls with LSI technical support.

I explained the exact situation as above.

First technician: Raid card is defiantly faulty and you will need to replace it. He then mentioned that he has 'another' type of firmware that would possibly temporality fix the card but there wasn't much point as the problem will return.

Second technician: Oh we have had that problem reported many times, which motherboard are you using? I explained the Asus one. He advised this was defiantly the issues. That as it was not a server or enterprise board this was likely to be a compatibility issue and sadly there is nothing they can do about it. Strange because I have a friend that is using the exact card in the exact board with a 4 way raid 0 array.

OK sorry this was rather long to explain. Any help or ideas would be great. I tried to google a million and one terms and really didn't find much of any help or anyone with the same problem even. Figured I'd ask before completing an RMA for hopefully a replacement card.
