I wonder which option would be better to use with OmniOS for 24 drive ZFS server:

I have already got an IBM M1015 flashed to IT LSI 9211 8i, should I get the intel RES2SV240 6gbs expander card to go with it or:

Get another two IBM M1015 or:

Get three LSI 9207 8i

Cost wise the cheapest option would be to get two IBM's but what would work better speed wise using an intel x540 T2?

Edit: I have also found an LSI 9305 16i, but need to find another 8 port card to add to this.

For SSDs, a 12G HBA or even a 6G with LSI 9207 chipsets are preferable, for disks the LSI 2008 (IBM M1015) is ok.
If you use an Expander you should prefer SAS disks. With Sata disks prefer multiple HBAs with enough ports.

You can mix 6G and 12G HBAs.

Thank you _Gea.

I have just bought the LSI Megaraid 9305 24i and can't find in the illumos compatibility list whether this is supported, however, I have also noticed that a lot of hardware is missing off this list, I have also tried intel x540-t2 without success and I know this works, how do I find out whether the controller work in OmniOS?
