I have been doing this for a while ever since my first x850pro that I flashed to PE died. When I got the RMA, I flashed it right away and got it installed. But what I did was setup different clocks for different programs. So it should be running at 540 core/ 590 mem. When in Idle or watching a movie or surfing the net, I set it up with riva tuner that I can just choose the low setting and it will clock at 250 /250 and temperatures will go down with power consumption. When playing games like counterstrike 1.6 or games that don't need as much power as HL2 or something, I have it at 400/400. And finally I have my high setting as a default (540/590) just because it's hard as hell to overclock these cards in my room (temp minimum 85F). Temperatures usually drop a little about 5C Idle and 7C when load. I do the samething with my CPU. It's a p4 3ghz s478 but I have it OC to 3.6. I usually go in Clockgen and take it down to 2.6ghz when I'm just doing movie / music / internet. Take it back to 3.6 when I'm gaming.
Now after all that I have been doing, I was wondering if all this I'm doing is actually giving me any bang for the effort i'm putting in? And is it worth it?
