I was having some issues with PWM mosfet temps while running Prime. Tonight I pulled the motherboard out of my case and did the "bolt mod" with the heatpipe/heatsinks on my IP35pro and added a small 40mm fan underneath my Tuniq to cool off the PWM heatsink. The heatsinks definitely weren't touching the mosfets completely, now they are.
While I had it all apart I went ahead and yanked off the Tuniq and pulled out the processor as well to lap them smooth.
I'm now well over an hour into Prime95 and my results are as follows:
PWM temps are down 15C on average
(about 60C + or - a degree or two)
Core temps are down about 8-9C on average
(about 58C + or - a couple degrees)
I'm stoked. Now I can probably run my Q6600 at 3.6Ghz instead of 3.4Ghz. I'll leave it like this for now, since it runs nice and cool, but it's nice to know a little elbow grease went a long way.
