Lower Than Normal for a X800 XT?

I JUST installed my Zalman ZF700 (using arctic silver 5 of course) onto my X800 XT and got anxious. I fired up my PC and ran ATI tool's "find max core" and only got 550 before an artifact appeared. My memory was pathetic... like 515 maybe.

Any ideas on why this is? I heard most hit 600 on X800XT's with the ZF700.
 
I had a problem with my x800xt in ATiTool too. It was registering false artifacts. Go to preferences and change the scanning method to the old method.
I would set it to find max core and it would say it found an artifact even tho there was none, switch it to old scanning method and I got all the way to 590 game/artifact free.

Your lucky...you at least got a good one. Mine only got to 540 before hard locking up.
 
One last thing:

I'm running the standard PSU which came with my case (Antec TruePower 380W). I have Zalman coolers for my processor and VGA card, a 120mm case fan (would like to add another for an intake), a x-fi platinum with i/o unit. Now... do you think my low overclock would be due to my system starving for power? Should I buy a better PSU?
 
my x800xt AIW did 540/575 on the stock cooler it had.
600/600 with maze4 gpu waterblock.

My x800GTO*2 does 600/600 on air (stock), artifact free for 5+ hours of Counter-Strike: Source :)

Quake 4 I have to lower it to 590/590, because the Doom 3 engine sucks for overclocking.
 
Man you guys are getting excellant results from core and Memory speeds . Core speed is really good . My wife and daughter both have X800xtpe's and core artifacts at 570 . On my wifes water cooled setup. My daughters gets 560 and artifacts (air).

My daughters PC scores 6202 in 3dmarks 05 Cpu stock 3.2 Core 527 memory 560

my wifes 3.2@ 3.4 on water scores 66++ Core 560 memory 615


Would you guys post linke to your orb scores I would like to do a compare.
