Looking for some expertise on finding some replacement speakers. I’ve got a 180cm desk but I have two 27 inch monitors and my case is on the desk (it’s sit stand and I’ve struggled to find one a cpu holder that fits my case, with it being water cooled you’re asking for trouble if it’s on the floor with a sit/stand)

Basically this means that my current desktop speakers, Bose Companion 20’s, don’t really fit as they are too tall to go under my monitors so they are sitting at shit angles. I will be putting my monitors on a stand at some point but ergonomically they are only a couple of cm below where they should be so it won’t make a difference. So I’m trying to find something that is short, or is designed (and doesn’t look weird) to be sideways.

I’m not looking for anything massively expensive, maybe $400 limit as while the thought of getting some Adam A77x’s does amuse me I’d rather put that money towards my proper stereo. They’re mostly used for games and music when I’m working at home. My Bose ones aren’t accoustically amazing but they do well for their size and purpose, so are somewhat setting the low bar of audio quality.
 
You didn't indicate how much clearance you have so it's hard to give you anything but the most conservative recommendation, and that would be orb audio.
 
Yeah oops, I just realised, sorry was distracted with Christmas.

It's about 7 inches or 18cm in proper measurements.

Why don't you just buy some cheap yoga blocks for a few bucks and put the case on the ground on top of them?
 
I’ll kick it all the time, which is annoying when I spent a long time making it look nice but more relevant is it makes the cables a pain in the ass as they snag or get tangled. When the desk goes up.

When I redo my room I’ll create a shelf for it but for now I like having it off the floor.

The orb speakers look awesome, very tempted on that. Bit more than I was looking to spend by the time you get the sub but it is exactly right other than that.
 
Either the Micca MB42x or Energy Take 2 would be small enough to fit under a 7" gap with room to spare. Pair them with a Class-T amp, like a Dayton DTA-120, and they would probably perform better than the Bose Companion 20.

The Orbs cost around 100-120 ea and are great for their size, but the KEF speakers are normally $550/pair and I doubt anything in the 200-300 range can really touch them.

I've since mounted my KEFs perpendicular and upside down...
 
Hmm, the Kef's would be an interesting choice. 7.1 inches so it'd be borderline normally but as I said, I need to get a monitor stand anyway.

That said I do like the mounting you have, never even thought of that. That could definitely work for me, though I need to get my monitor stands first to see how tall the stands would need to be.

This is always the danger, I get on the product escalation and get something completely overblown for what I actually need (it's suplimentary audio really I'm saving for some Sonus Faber's for a proper stereo)

Gah, decisions. Good advice so far though guys cheers.
