Hey guys

I'm puzzled about my low PPD for my setup atm:confused:.

Setup:
AMD LE CPU
1gb DDR2 800
3x 9800gx2
HX620 PSU
MSI K9A2

When folding, each client is only doing 3500 PPD:confused:

I'm using 177.35 nvidia drivers....

Any overclock ??
How have you set affinities or the enviomental variable ??
Do you have the old fast protiens or the new slow ones ??
What do you get with just one running by itself ??

The 3,500 PpD is about right for the new slow protiens.
I get ~3,800 PpD with the slow protiens on my GX2's but 5,300 PpD with the quick ones.
But I've got no slow ones at the moment.

Edit. Is it a single, dual or quad core CPU ??
Four clients is about the upper limit per CPU core.

Luck ............ :D

CPU + GPU are stock

They are new proteins...

CPU's are single cored. I can't get Q6600 + 3x 9800gx2 to boot on a HX620

Haven't set anything there

I just tried disabling 2 cores....

The PPD is jumping up already..... You're right.... 1CPU core can take 4 GPU cores

You might get away with 5 clients on one CPU core.
You may take a little hit but not as much as with 6 clients and the overall PpD may be up.
Do you have any GTX cards to add to the GX2's ??

Luck .......... :D

It couldn't hack 5 cores... PPD was 3800 with 5 cores

I don't have any GTX cards :(

Anyways I've ordered some dual cored CPUs to replace the single cores I have

Thanks for the help

Holy CRAP dude. You're running 3 GX2's on a HX620? I knew that thing was efficient and powerful, but I didn't think that powerful.

Do you think it can handle a 2 GX2's and a Q6600?

I'm so ordering a 3rd 9800GX2 for my GPU folding box. I have a corsair 750.

Yay for EVGA life time warr. :)

Q6600 + 2x gx2 = for sure

It'll even pump 3 cards.... it was the CPU slowness that was my limit

The TX750 has 2x (6+2)pin connectors I believe.....you will need to mod a power cable to run the 3rd gx2's 8pin

The adapters are not an issue. I just dont want to have to use the fire part of my homeowners insureance.

I never knew there are adapters for 8pins?

Care to link me up?

LOL, I'm running 2x8800GTS with an Athlon 4400 X2, a SB X-Fi, 5 Hard Drives, and 3 DVD-RWs off of a 620HX, and it's only putting it at slightly over half load. I proved it with a Killawatt meter. It's pulling ~394 watts at full load, 82% efficiency, which puts the computer pulling ~333 watts. I'm happy with it.

Just an update

I've purchased 2x 1000watt silverstone PSU's......(3 more coming on monday)
the single cored CPUs are now dual cores

4x 9800gx2 = 3900-4100 PPD.... all stock clocks

I believe that's rather low? gonna buy a quad phenom to see if it fixes the low PPD problem

Hi guys

I've got a question.

How do I force "GPU client 1" to fold on "CPU core 1"?.... I've got 8 GPU clients on 1 core atm:eek::eek:

im still getting 6150 PPD with an overclocked 8800GT.. so my ppd's actually gone up since the new proteins.. so im not sure where this whole slower protein/low PPD theory comes into play.. i was avging 4700 PPD on the old proteins.. the only protein my ppd drops on is the 5800.. but its only dropping 100 PPD.. so not really that big of a difference..

go to task manager.. ctrl+alt+delete.. go to processes.. right click the FahCore_11.exe... click set affinity and set to either cpu0 cpu1 (dual core) cpu2 cpu3 (quad core)... atleast thats for XP.. vista might be a little different.. but if im not mistaken its pretty close to the same thing..

and i hope your using vista and not XP with 8 gpu clients on a single core cpu..

The OCAU boys showed me the way with Bill2. THANKS EVIL!

Just added 8x 9800gx2 today

Should be pumping 250k+ PPD. Will add the other 12 gx2's on Tuesday or whenever the PSUs come

Holy CRAP dude. You're running 3 GX2's on a HX620?

Wow AssM@N  Like capreppy said "You're running 3 GX2's on a HX620? " To think I was worrying about just running one 9800GX2 on a Zippy Emacs GSM-6600P G1 600w PSU. (duh)

I'm hoping to get a 9800GX2 to replace my 8800GT in a 24/7 Q6600 WC'er. Then..... build another 24/7 DC'er with the 8800GT left over (all my mobos, except one, are single PCIe). I've got 2x E6600's, a GF7100VT-M3 "Fry's special" mobo, a new PSU on the way, so all I need is some "el cheapo RAM" (lots of that around) and I'll have another 24/7 DC'er. :p

I was wondering about the 8 pin connector on the Zip . Obviously I'm not a gammer. Until the GPU2 client came out for folding I never thought that much about GPU's.

3x 9800gx2 run day in day out on the HX620:D... I don't think you need to worry about one gx2:p

As for 8pin connectors, there's 3x (6+2) pin connectors on the PSU..... as for the last card..... the store that sold me the video card modded some cables that enables me to use ***molex 4pin > 2pin** for the last gx2
