low power socket 478

i was wondering if there were any low-power socket 478 (regualr socket, not mPGA) processors?

i have been looking around but i cant seem to find any

socket 478 shit is hard to find. Went to frys to find just the bracket for the CPu and they didn't have one.

i might be getting an 'old' 478 p4 3ghz work pc for home. I have no idea how much of a power-guzzler it is...

they dont even make that stuff anymore. i have an intel s478 and northwood chip though running in my moms computer... its got a geforce 4600 too, that thing was the SH!T back in the day.

SH!T but ridiculously expensive. It wasn't until the 9800pro came out that a half decent gpu came out...and then amd's amd64 forced intel to sell northwood chips at a much cheaper price.. Then of course came the prescott

Northwood chips are not too bad 89W TDP. Prescotts are the bad ones.

No problem.

As you can see, the Northwoods scale linearly with clock speed. So you'll have to choose low speed with low power. You can find most of them pretty readily on eBay. If they advertise the sSpec number and stepping, check against here:

While it's no speed demon, the "King" of low power Northwoods is this: http://processorfinder.intel.com/details.aspx?sSpec=SL62S. It's only got a 400Mhz bus though.

yeah all my socket 478 are connected to dell motherboards and they don't let you change ANYTHING and it sucks.

that's what i have - a powerful s478 on a dell mobo/system. Just so I could know, was the 3ghz chip overclockable on another board?

Pulled my P4 from a old laptop is stock clock is 2.8 I let my brother have it and he said he got it over 3 while using it. But on dell MB nothing cant change anything. Thew my P4 in my Celeron board and it ran the same specs that It did for the celleron which under clocked it to 1.6.

Dell seriously lock out about everything.
