So a group of friends are getting together to have a lan party, but I came in from out of town, and most of them have work computers but we all still want to play and have a good time. UT goty is for sure on the table. Anything else fun and easy to lan up that can be played on a c2d era laptop? lol

I dont know about the others you listed but that one will be hard on a c2d laptop with no dedicated video card (assuming it doesn't have a dedicated video card)

I play it on my C2D business laptop. It does have a graphics card, but I have no idea which one. It's just a lenovo 15" Thinkpad.

L4D2 is a no go. While the game will load the frames are so terrible that it's nearly impossible to do anything especially when the horde comes.
 
My personal list for things like this comes from lan parties that my high school computer tech teacher would let me host in his computer room, so the playlist was basically designed around the idea that those computers were pretty hardware-limited.

Unreal Tournament is hella fun on crap rigs, especially if you make your own maps. One that I made that garnered a pretty decent following was a 10:1 scale replica of our classroom. Pretty fun stuff.

Diablo 2, very easy to set up lan connection with, and you can squeeze as many as like 8 players into the same game instance simultaneously, but if your party is larger than that, don't be afraid to set up multiple groups.

Age of Empires 2 (with expansion, not vanilla). Absolutely a blast for anyone that likes RTS's, and it runs on piss poor hardware with ease.

Star Craft + Brood War is another very very solid RTS choice for small to medium parties, but as with the others its not too hard to set up multple groups on the same network. SC was pretty much designed for lan parties imo.

there's always the possibility of bringing in a Wii and Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Can't go wrong there.
 
Battlefield 1942. You can even have bots in the game so you can have big battles with a small number of players

If you'd consider strategy games, you've got Age of Mythology and Dawn of War 1.

Also, I just played through Hammerwatch which is a top-down Gauntlet-esque game that's fun.

And Torchlight is great as well, and if I remember runs pretty well on near-crap hardware. Hell the original Torchlight ran on netbooks.
