For an industrial application in a heavily contaminated environment I have to build a completely enclosed computer. With the new Pentium M for desktop boards and the available high efficiency power supplies I can address two of the three main heat sources, but now I run into the issue of HDs. Power consumption and heat development is not usually listed in specs, can anyone recommend HDs for their cool operating temperatures?
 
Western Digital and Samsung have extremely low power drives. WD's latest Caviars pull less than 1/2A on +12, and a similar level on +5. That's a total pull of around 10 watts, shouldn't be too bad. You also have the option of solid state or a 2.5" drive. Hitachi has an Endurastar line with very high thermal tolerances in a 2.5" form factor, that may be of interest.
