Low noise CPU fan

I have a a64 3200+ system running with retail fan. the fan is really loud, i want to upgrade to a better fan that has lower noise. I love my cousin's Dell 8400, you can hear anything.

Zalman 7700Cu set at 1100 RPM.

Only thing is your motherboard needs to be on the compatability list to fit the sucker.
 
Are you wanting a new HS/F combo, or just a new fan?
 
Thermaltake Silentboost. Cheap, effective, and comes with a dead silent 80mm panflow.

will 1100rpm work for A64 Venice Core 3200+? what are the temp. you getting when idle and load?
 
I would suggest saving up until you can get a SI-97A or an XP-90 and pair it with a good fan.
 
are there any fan with light that has same performance as Panaflo L1A? i look my L1A its queit.

agreed 100%, mine is DEAD silent... 27ish CFM, 21dba :D infact i think the CFMs are even higher than that... feels more than 27...

I had Zalman 7700Cu before and now I switch to Thermalright XP-90, as my experience, XP-90 is bettern than Zalman 7700Cu, the design of Zalman is crazy and untalent, too big and too heavy, while the temps of mobo and cpu was higher than under xp-90.

Don't buy Zalman 7700Cu, expensive, heavy and huge, the only thing is quiet, but xp-90 is quiet enough.

They were made to cool Prescotts and thats the only way I'd use one (as if I'd ever get a Prescott :rolleyes: ), for everything else they're just too much excess.

which fan did you use for xp-90? WIll L1A gives enough cool for 3200+?

I've got a 3000+ Venice @ 2.7Ghz (1.5v) and I'll idle at 28C and the highest I've hit after a few hours gaming is 38C.

My room temp is around 18 -20C (which is perfectly comfortable for any sissies out there who think thats cold).

Since it's installed in your case and not physically lifted up and down everyday I wouldn't worry about the excessive weight.

My High Definition Widescreen TV is over 70KG which some people might say is excessive. But it sits nicely in the corner of my lounge, has an unbeatable picture quality, looks nice and is bloody hard to steal.

Who cares if the Zalmans big and heavy when it's quiet and excellent for the job.

Oh We'll, I'm very happy with my Zalman and that's the most important thing at the end of the day.
 
Uh.. I didn't say anything about it's weigh nor could I care less about it (I've got a Thermalright 900U with a 120mm fan boot strapped to it). I said excess as in overkill as in it doesn't make a bit of difference when the CPU doesn't suffer from poor thermal design.
