Low latency or high FSB?

I'm thinking of getting a Conroe X6800 and overclocking it (haven't decided how far yet.) Should I get PC6400 with a latency of 3-4-3-9 or PC8500 with a latency of 5-5-5-15. Price isn't a factor because there's only 23p separating them.

OK I've done some reading on the subject and I *think* the low latency is the better one to buy, can anybody verify this for me?

well i would say both. everybody wants some tight timmings. altthough, they want the memory to be fast as hell also. so i would say both. currently my memory is running 2-5.3.3.5 timmings at 250mhz DDR500mhz effective. and i couldnt be happier!

i wasn't aware that you could predetermine how a chip overclocks :p

but, some pc6400 should do well. even if you get the chip up to 400mhz fsb, you can still run the ram 1:1 with the fsb and not even overclock the ram yet :p

Go for the PC8500 , i think you are getting a bargain , also these chips will be more futureproof and wont have to run that fast to even overclock.

Also the timings of the 8500 are not really loose because the speed makes up for the overall loss. Isnt that true Eclipse ?

Again you need to be guided towards the memory phrophet. That is Eclipse . Even from the name you can tell the man is important.
:)

Oh yeah, forgot about that >.< I guess I'll be going with X6800 and taking it to 400 FSB then :p (4.4GHz total right?)

I bought the PC8000 cos its the conroe i am going to use it on and i do want to try and get the most out of it .

I am planning to buy the E6600 and i bought the E6600 so i could at least get to 3.6ghz and hopefully be able to get to that using these modules .Anything after that will be bonus.
