Low FPS And Freezes

I'm getting pretty bad fps on my new build system no idea why i'm pulling 45-75fps in BF2 everything on ultra and 2xAA and 4xAF in nvidia control panel. And games freezes for a sec sound goes odd and then jumps back in game with all games i play.


Specs are

X2 3800+ @ 260x10
7800GT CO SE @ 490/1.15 tried lower clocks made no diff
2x1gb PC4000 Mushkin XP ram
DFI Ultra-D
500w Frotron BLue storm
120gig WD Sata 7200rpm 8mbcach HD

Tried diff vid drivers and the dual core fix no go. So stumped.

Well, you're overclocking for one. So that could cause issues. Could be power, could be heat.

Update ALL your drivers, sound, chip set, ect, ect.

Try removing your over clock. I have seen people who had over clocked machines that were stable by every test they tried, but ran BF2 like crap. They then dropped back to stock settings and BF2 ran like a dream. Its weird, but it seems that BF2 has an odd sensitivity to OC's.

Could also be a heat issue. The thermal sensor might be detecting an overheat condition and scalling back performance until ti doesn't detect it anymore.

I tried removing the oc and it doesn't change. Tried diff drivers and stuff still no go no idea what could be cause of this.
