Low eVGA Geforce 6800 Clocks

My GPU (eVGA Geforce 6800) base clocks are 325/700, and I can never seem to get ANY OC without it locking up. I went to 340/750, and it locked up. I went to 335/720 and it locked up. Does my card just have an extremely low OC clock, or could it be something else? I have an NV Silencer 5 stuck on it, and it still froze up with the 335/720. The load temperature hovers around 55-60c, and idle hovers around 45c. Ambient temperature is 40c under load, and 30c idle. These aren't very high numbers, so i'm thinking it could be something else other than heat. Then again, i'm not completely sure...

then again... your overclocking... and your not guaranteed any positive results .

but yea.. thats kinda strange.

I don't see why ppl 'jump' into overclock guesses.....i have more of a method to my madness....anyway

Try overclocking the GPU (core) by 5MHz incriments until you get problems (artifacts, freezes, etc) and drop it back 5MHz....then start upping the memory 10MHz and drop back when problems start again...

You CAN possibly get a few MHz here or there after you get a stable set, but I prefer to leave it at that and give the card room to breathe

I was using them as a comparison, when I actually played games for hours. I go by the GPU clock = freezes, Memory clock = artifacts rule, in 5/15 increments. I can push my memory to 875 actually, it's just the GPU that seems to be holding me down. I've never gotten an artifact on this card.

new driver set?
i know with different drivers i get slightly different stable oc's. you could just be running a really shitty driver set.

Make sure you disable fast writes in the bios. I couldn't overclock my ultra at all with FW enabled.

i thought fastwrites was something you wanted to be enabled? its enabled on mine and i get lower overclocks than i was hoping for too

Power supply is 420w, its fine.

I'll try disabling fast writing, but the last time I did it, I got hardly any extra overclocks.
