Low 4850 Temps????

1st off, I'm certainly not complaining about my GPU temperature.

I would like to understand why my VisionTek 4850 idled at 52 - 55C stock in a 22 - 25C room though. :confused:

I'm using GPU-Z to get the temperature.

Also, my case & fans are nothing special - I just have an Antec Three Hundred with (2) front 120's, (1) rear 120, (1) side 120 & the pre-installed top 140. All the fans are set on "LOW".

After setting-up a custom profile with the stock fan set @ 40% speed, the GPU temp is 42 - 45C at idle. Highest I've seen under load is 58C.

I ask because I've read many posts of 80C + idle temps.

Anyone have any thoughts?
 
even with the fan @ 50% my cards can still break 100c when running furmark stability test

cant wait for some proper aftermarket coolers to come out

Furmark displays the core temperature in the corner when you run it. It is interesting that your temps are that much lower than average. I know mine idled at 78C and hit about 90C under load with the stock cooler at stock speeds. It dropped to around 50C at 40% fan speed. I suppose it's possible that they pulled a fast one and implemented a new, slightly different cooler design or something.

furmark has it in the corner and i have gpu-z open too, they both say the same thing.

its not like the cards dont have anywhere for the air to get out either im using a v1000b it has holes everywhere lol. i thought it might be something to do with the fact its all upside down and the cpu being at the bottom but the TRUE 120 isnt even barely warm to the touch....
 
Im the same, maybe we just got lucky? Fan speed at 40%, overclocked to 700/1050, I idle at around 43C, and load up to a max of 60C. I was expecting extremely high temps from what everyone was saying. Even before altering the fan speed (it was at 8% originally) it idled around 50-55C, much better than some people's 70C+ idle.

I have the same Antec 300 case with same fan setup.
