Just got a Samsung 305t and love it. Huge difference from 1080p. Who else games at 30 inches?

Dell U3011 30" here. didnt know you could still buy 305t. old school 30".

<3 my U3011... THIS CLOSE TO GETTING ANOTHER!

Just wondering, how close are you guys sitting to these monitors?

I'm probabyl two and a half to three feet away. The text size isn't that far off from a monitor running at 1680x1050 / 1600x1200 or 1920x1200. So it's not like you are looking at larger text that you want to back away from. You sit the normal distance you would from any monitor.

Oldschool ish here, running a 3007wfp, wouldnt want to go back. Well worth the investment imo

Just switched to a 30" HP ZR30w from 3x24" HP ZR24w's. Loved the ZR24's, but once the novelty of eyefinity wore down, I decided I liked a single bezel free screen a bit better since I game and do art work on my computer. I will certainly miss eyefinity for some things, but overall I am happier with my 30. Now triple monitor 30's would be sick, but I blew my spare cash on new 20" Forgestar F14 wheels for my car so that will not happen any time soon.

What kind of car? Something cool I hope.

Well, it is cool to me at least. 11' Nissan Maxima SV Sport/Tech. Only mods are Eibach springs, 20" Forgestar F14's, LED interior lights, HID foglight conversion and R2C intake.

Damn I'm looking to get another monitor and was thinking 24 but now I kind of want a 30

I have a 20 right now and was thinking of just using it as a second monitor for TV and movies while I surf or play eve. But if I got a 30 I could use it for a portrait and theyd kind if fit together. But for tv or movies itd be pretty worthless in portrait considering that more of the monitor would be used for black bars than TV. Any feedback from any of the 20/30/20 people?

How can you people use a 30" monitor??? I was trying to break in a 22" @1920x1050 (untill it broke) and it seemed massive... Did any of you feel like "ok this is waaaay too big" when you first got it?

Seems like you succeeded. :p

I was laughing while pulling it out of the box it was so big. I don't know if I would go 30" again because the text is super small and gave me headaches so I had to up the text size.

Still gaming on my glorious 3008WFP. I think I'm gonna get a ZR30w next month.

Just picked up 3 Dell 3007wfp-hc last night for an exceptional price, THEY ARE AMAZING!!!. Coming from a 2407 it is a ridiculous amount of monitor to be looking at. Only issue I have is that I didn't get the stands so I have to figure something out for that.

Funny that this thread just came along. Was wondering if anyone knows any good stands to mount the dell 3008 in portrait mode? I have a 3rd coming along and I'm configuring all 3 into portrait mode but the stand that comes with it doesn't support portrait. After seeing the BF3 tank demo and being in awe, this upgrade is well worth the expense :)

22" is very small. very difficult to multitask and do work with.
i unfortunately only have Dell's 27"

sure, at first it seemed massive, but now i need more

Tis why I made the big jump.... wellll one of the reason's I made a big jump. The main reason was that on the used market, I can get a 3007wfp-hc for cheaper than a u2711.

So who's waiting for them to release Quad HD monitors so we can go bigger again?

22" is very small. very difficult to multitask and do work with.

well to be fair, till my video card conked out, I had a 3x monitor setup for multitasking (really nice for Maya since it has so many extra windows that need to be open at once)

I have 2 of the Samsung 305ts on my desk in a "V" shape. Tried the Dell 3007 but too much AG coating. I have been very happy with the 305t.

So happy I went with the u3011 over 3x23 or the more expensive 3x24.

As mentioned, be careful. They do multiply. Trying to figure out a way to justify a second so that i can be like "well 2 is stupid gotta get a 3rd!"

I'm using a 32inch 720p Sharp AQUOS from 2006? as my monitor. When I first got it, I had to literally turn my head before my eyes got used to travelling on their own. But now I am tired of it, want 1080p res and need something smaller since I sit at 2-3 feet.

So I'm getting a BenQ XL2410T. I'll still use it as my movie monitor though =o

zr30w here. Love it. The only thing I don't like about it is the 10-bit color. It's vibrant, sure, but it's obviously off a bit compared to the zr24w (8-bit), which seems more naturalistic.

I guess it's a result of programs not being able to accurately take advantage of the huge color space on the larger monitor. However, the contrast ratio on the zr30w is nice and high.

I figure that monitors are something that I upgrade every 10 years or so (1992, 2000, 2010), so buying a great one is worth it.

spending 3K on 30" screens is stupidity when you can get 3 24" screens for the price of one.

30" screens are for those who are really enthusiasts and not knuckle heads who thing they can game on such a thing and sit like a feet away from there desk squinting @ text.

I only spent $1300 on my 3. *Shrugs*

ZR30W is a wide gamut resulting in wildy oversaturated colors vs the ZR24W which is sRGB and comes with accurate color presets. Nothing to do with 8 bit vs 10 bit color.

Both monitors have below average contrast.

The only 3k$ 30" screens are some of the super high end NEC/Eizo models...

On that samsung how is the input lag on that. I havent seen this monitor suggested to much.

I think 24"s 1920x1200 is where it's at....
3x30" just seems enormous. Then again, I've not had experience with 3x30"
How far back do you have to sit with 3x30"?

I like my Acer 24.5" at 1920x1200. Super crisp picture. Too much monitor is too much work for my eyes to pan.. greatly effects gameplay along with my recognition and memory of my desktop or the work on it to be honest.
