I just bought some sony MDRv150 headphones for 25$ for my pc and at full volume they arent loud at all, i feel like i wasted my money. Is there any LOUD headphones for around 30 dollars that can make you go deaf?
 
This is one of the more stupid requests I have seen....sorry to be so blunt.

Human hearing has a spike around 7-8kHz, so look for something that has an emphasised spike in that range (grado comes to mind). Also, look at impedance to get sort of an idea (the lower the better), and sensativity to get an even better idea (the higher the better).

Nice perpetuation of a myth there bud.
low impedance does not = loud cans
In fact apply some basic electronics theory here and you may notice just the opposite is true. ;)

Cause this is the key stat for what determines "loud cans."
 
my soundcard is soundMAX Digital Audio. the 10$ generic speakers that came with my system are really loud when I turn them all the way up but these sony headphones are just weak. I thoguth they would be a little louder what do you guys recommend

I did say "sorta an idea"....which is mearly a rough indication....Grado 32ohmers have a higher sensativity than Senn 300 ohmers...they generally correlate alright.

I reccomend getting a real set of headphones (more than $30) or building a Cmoy, or commissioning a builder to build one for you....X does an awesome job, and I wouldn't mind
whipping something up either...

Damn Mister X, thanks for that little cmoy amp guide, I may try that out man. It looks pretty interesting. I read the introduction and I just may try that for a new pair of headphones i'm getting. Thanks a lot :)

Cause after reading your thread the thought of you driving your cans from the Z680's almost ruined any chance of that. :D

lol i'll be sure to man. I've tried running headphones off these speakers. Wow it was so bad. Never again. lol.
