Yes I currently have a volcano 9 fan cooling my xp 2700 i was wandering if anyone knew of a much more quiter fan and does just about as good of job cooling the chip i just don't want it to be so loud anymore.... thanks.

The Volcano 9 has the ability to adjust its speed either automatically (by thermistor) or manually (via the knob it comes with), or have the fan at maximum RPMs all the time. I take it you used the last option :)

I've had the best luck with Antec ball-bearing fans, but many people swear by Vantec, Panaflo, Sunon ...

get a nice thermalright heatsink and a thermaltake smartfan 2, then hook the rheostat up

you could pick up a nice Zalman CNPS 7000A-AlCu for around 30 bux
it cools very well for the noise level and it should definately be a consideration for you

yeah, a Zalman would be perfect, but if you don't have much money.. i would suggest getting a panaflo or thermaltake smart fan
