Loud bang when switch on PC

I'm sorry I dont know where else to post this thread if in wrong section.

Here is the story:

Everytime I switch off my PC to go out or go to bed, I flip off the switch at the wall socket ( I dont unplug the wire). And when I turn on the PC, I just flip the switch again. But quite recently, when I flipped the switch, I heard this loud bang from my PC or from the wire extension. It is really a scary sound.

At first, I instantly thought that my PSU had blown off so I tried to turn on my PC and everything worked just fine and still does. Now I think that the loud bang could be from the fuse in the wires. I experienced this loud bang about 3 times now and I'm getting worried and it scares me to turn on my PC. (It still is running normally)

Any advice or pointers on this please.

Thanks in advanced.

Do you have your speakers on? Maybe the loud noise is coming from them?

I do have speakers but I use headphone on most of the time and I turn my speaker off. The loud bang sound is just really loud and sharp. I do know what the sound from the speakers like when turning on the PC. It's definitely not from the speakers.

Thanks.

Are you actually shutting down your pc before you flip the switch off? Maybe it's your fans kicking in when the power comes on.

Speakers sounds like a good option. I'd disconnect them as well as the internal speaker and see if it fixes it.

What if he's blowing a capacitor every time he powers on though? :p
(half-joking. If that were the case, I think your comp would be dead by now)

Guys.. if he has a system that isn't 15 or so years old, he would still have to hit the power switch on the computer to turn it on.

If it comes on by itself when the wall switch is turned on, then there is either something wrong with the power supply or motherboard.

OP, can you post a recording of the sound?

Are you sure it isn't more of a loud popping noise?

Have you tried unpluggin and plugging the power cord going to the computer as well as the extension cord going to the wall? Are there any burn marks you can see where either of the cords plugs in?

Are you actually using an extension cord or a power strip? If it is a power strip, have you tried plugging the computer into a different plug on the power strip?

All my hardware are new, I only built this PC from last September. I can't really record the sound because it happens quite randomly. Say this morning I flip the switch on and its fine but evening when I switch it on, it might make the noise.

I'm sure it is a loud bang noise.

I haven't tried to unplug the power cord or any cables because everything working still. I can't see any burn marks at all from any of the cords.

I'm using 2 extension (4 sockets each ) from 2 wall sockets to power my PC gears. I haven't tried to plug the PC into different plug but I will try it.

Thanks for the suggestions.

There is a power state setting in the BIOS to power on when power is cut off.
Example, you shut down windows, machine powers off, then you flip the switch on the wall and all power is removed. Flip the wall switch and the PC will power back on, due to that BIOS setting.
