Lets see,

I've gotten two emails now containing Beta keys, however both of them have come back saying they are in use.

So am I missing much? Anyone else having problems or want to throw a beta key at me?

Ive been playin for about a month. Im kinda confused about the beta thing though. I have a 39 RK on Brandywine.

They have a 10 day trial, and if you join you get the game an all the expansions for free.

I came from WoW. I kinda miss good instances but this will hold me over til Diablo 3. Then I'm locking myself in my room.
 
It's the beta for the free version. I would do the 10 day trial, but 10 days would equate to about 4-5 with how much i work and the download time. :eek:

Ah, gotcha. 10 day trial you can't use the auction house or mail system. IMO its worth paying the 30 bucks for 3 months sub, plus the whole game for free. Just my two cents.
 
if you like mmorpg's I still think lotro is a great game... very pretty, runs well on a wide range of hardware, lots of solo-able and goup-able content.. very good community.. it's still one of my favorite go-to games..
 
I'm looking forward to the f2p. It's modeled after DDO. I did the 10-day free trial way back, and though I enjoyed it, I'm a very casual player (1-day a week player), so it's hard to justify a monthly sub.
 
Yup, yup. Among with major engine overhaul, DX11 and likes. Can't wait to see it. I have a lifetime, my friend was paying per month, we are going to get back into it once it goes free.
 
Right now the beta is for the fall F2P change, I also agree that it is better just to buy the 3month sub than a 10-day trial. The sub will also allow you to be a VIP member when F2P comes out which will allow you to have access to all the content and some extras.

I have been playing lotro since beta and it has come a long way but I think the change in the fall will be great. The NDA was lifted for the beta yesterday and info is starting to trickle out. If you find yourself on Brandywine look me up, my char is Crethalion (but I have many alts).
 
LOTRO is a solid MMORPG with a good dev team. Its a nice game for those who want something in between WoW and EQ/DAOC imo.

When it goes F2P, it will be a very solid game for free.

DX11 overhall will be delicous. Honestly I do love Lotro. If you do join back up and restart you should join me on Landroval, my chars name is "Basrik". Me and my GF are on from time to time.

My girlfriend and I just resubbed. Our characters are in their 30s on Landroval. LOTRO is a very good story-driven MMO. I think my favorite thing about the game is the landscapes...they really make it feel like a world, a place. The graphics are great if you can pump them up. The DX10 shadows from the trees in a forest are really nice.

Helios, Thimbledor, Bubo, Lyndee, Mystryll, Liellew, Sneadric, Obsidianna and Annabananafofanna <-- had to make one off-the-wall name.

jeez.. I have too many chars..
 
I got in the beta and played for about a day. I just can't get into it again. I had a trial about a year ago and I liked it a lot but I just don't feel invested anymore.

With that said, im still impressed by the clean graphics. Its a breath of fresh air after playing wow for so long.
 
I keep trying to get into Lotro, but I never liked the feel of their combat. Something just felt off to me. Also since I never made it very far I am quite sick of the starting areas and quests so it is tough to find a reason to play.
 
Yea, i'll honestly probably wait until Guild Wars 2...I just like the beta's because I feel like im undercove, and the whole free part. :D

Guild Wars 2 is currently the only MMORPG I'm looking forward to. Read some of the dev journals, it just sounds awesome. It seems like the devs actually get it, what makes MMOs fun and what makes them a chore.

No the DX11 "overhaul" is pathetic. You get ambient occlusion (big deal, hardly any performance advantage that I could tell and no visual advantage) and you get "dynamic water" which is a fancy way of saying you get a crappy looking and unrealistic wake that tracks out a couple feet behind you when you swim. That is all, period.


What is sad is that is the best part about this update. The new zone is uninspired, there isn't really anything to aspire for in terms of loot in this if you have played the game and have a max level character. All in all the game has pretty much died for me as far as I am concerned, I am looking elsewhere now until some new games launch.
 
It really is a quality game...if you go back in time and play it 3 or 4 years ago. I am so underwhelmed playing it in 2010. Am I just completely burnt out or are there really no great mmorpg's out if one has already downed the lich king?
